Czech research institutions presented several technological innovations with application potential in the fields of medicine and diagnostics at this year's BioVaria in Munich. IOCB Tech, in cooperation with the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the CAS, i&i Prague, Prague.bio, the Institute of Physics of the CAS, the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague, and the Faculty of Science of Charles University, actively showcased the results of Czech research at the traditional biotechnology conference within the Pitch & Partner and Investors' Forum sessions.
As part of the Czech participation, the scientific incubator i&i Prague also presented its projects. Key innovations included:

  • FunBrush (Institute of Physics of the CAS): An antifouling polymer coating technology designed to improve the performance and durability of chip surfaces.
  • Lekobot (UCT Prague): A platform for personalized medicine enabling the production of individualized medicinal capsules.
  • RNAutrix (Masaryk University): A technology for screening large RNA fragments and identifying interacting small molecules.

In addition to these projects, i&i Prague also showcased further innovations from its portfolio, including spin-off companies Adalid Sciences and Insert.

"BioVaria offers a unique opportunity to connect academic research with industry. This year, Czech participation confirmed that our scientists' projects have high application potential and are capable of capturing the attention of both professional audiences and investors," said Julie Proft, CBD, IOCB Tech.

The participation of the Czech delegation was also supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic. "Supporting Czech participation in BioVaria is part of our long-term economic diplomacy strategy in the field of science and innovation. The successful presentation of Czech technologies at an international level contributes to building the prestige of Czech research and its commercialization," said Lukáš Opatrný, Consul for Policy and Trade at the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Munich.

BioVaria 2025 once again confirmed its role as one of Europe's leading forums for technology transfer from academic research into practice, focusing on biomedicine, pharmaceuticals, and diagnostics.
