A long-standing member of the team, Julie brings a rare synthesis of high-level scientific expertise and a profound understanding of the commercial mechanisms required for successful technology transfer.

Julie’s academic journey spans prominent international institutions. After completing her PhD at the Friedrich Loeffler Institute (FLI) in Germany, she gained extensive international experience as a postdoctoral fellow at the Hotchkiss Brain Institute (HBI) in Calgary, Canada, before returning to Europe for a further postdoc at IOCB Prague.

Since joining IOCB Tech in January 2016, she has been an integral driver of the organisation’s strategic and technological advancements. Her approach to the field is rooted in the belief that technology transfer extends far beyond the administrative management of intellectual property.

"People often think technology transfer is just about patents and licensing," notes Julie Proft. "In reality, it is about building relationships and understanding both the science and the markets. It is a complex journey to guide an idea from discovery to real-world impact".

In her new role, Julie will continue to provide steady leadership, ensuring that breakthrough chemistry is effectively translated into therapies and technologies that benefit society globally.
